Strong Tournament Results for Senior Boys’ Hockey Team
The Bishop Allen Senior Boys’ Hockey Team fared well in a 15-team tournament held in Kingston, Ontario on December 14 and 15. Coached by Mr. Wilson and Mr. De Souza, the Cardinals were undefeated in the round robin stage of the tournament and advanced to the semi-finals, which they lost in an exciting 1-0 game against Lawrence Park.
Halfway through their regular season, the team is in third place out of four teams. According to Mr. Wilson, they have “come on some tough times… but [they] hope to finish strong.” He said that the players are playing well together as a team, and they are “a classy group on and off the ice.”
The team played Michael Power/St Joseph High School, and, although they played a very good game, Bishop Allen lost 2-1. The coaches are looking forward to another match up against Michael Power/St Joseph on January 19 at Mimico Arena.
Bishop Allen is seeking to win a championship this year. If they succeed, it would be the first time that a Bishop Allen boys’ hockey team history.
The coaches are proud of the group's astounding teamwork and dedication. The team consists of Matthew Bartoletta, Adrian Bilic, Michael Cvecich, Frank Esposito, Sean Huckvale, Teodor Iwanusiw, Aidan Lehecka, Owen Jones, Martin Maly, Iain Morris, Jackson Pew, William Raymond, Nick Sabatino, Alex Surzycia, Thomas Trudell, Julian Tymochko, and Sam Weller.
