Junior Boys' Hockey Team in Playoff Contention

The Junior Boys’ Hockey team is midway through the season and eyeing a spot in the playoffs. The Cardinals, coached by Mr. Rebelo, have played seven regular season games and they have five left in the season. Currently, they are in fourth place out of the seven teams in their division, and the top four teams will advance to the playoffs. The Cardinals are hoping to stay there and ultimately make the finals, which will be held at the MasterCard Centre on February 26.

Reflecting on the season to date, Coach Rebelo said “Our goalies have been playing really well; our defence is our strong point. We are having a hard time scoring goals. I know we have some really good players up front, they’ve just been unlucky.”

On November 18 and 19 the Jr. Boys’ team participated in a tournament at York University. They tried hard and the competition was tough. There were many private schools and very few public schools competing. The BA record was 0-3-1 at the end of the tournament. Coach Rebelo said, “It was hard to compete against the big boys.” The team will play another tournament in the first week of January at York University.

The coach wishes to commend the players for their positive attitude and teamwork. The team consists of Adam Cechosh, Tyler-Michel Vaughan, Matthew Martin, Joshua Eisfeld, Christian Tenuta, Holden Chiasson, Steven DeSousa, Kyle Birket, Troy Andrews, Christian Cliff, Justin Teichman, Anthony Gorelikov, Joey Maly, Colin Griffin, David MacDonald, Logan Kucey, Jake Grnak, Lucas Medeiros, Noah Anderson, Matthew Saravo, Anton Markovac, Gianluca Ciardullo, and Mate Znaczko.
