Inclement Weather Interrupts A Promising Start at the Tennis Tournament
On Friday Oct. 16, the Bishop Allen tennis team, led by coaches Ms. Marcolini and Mr. McIntyre, competed in the qualifying round against seven other TCDSB schools at the Aviva Center at York University. Unfortunately, after the first round of play, the tournament was postponed due to rain and hail.
The Bishop Allen tennis team consisted of 14 students, six of whom will advance to the next round of the tournament when it resumes at the Mayfair Clubs’ indoor facilities on Oct. 23. Coach Ms. Marcolini said, “The six that are moving forward have a very good chance to make it to the championship.”
The top two players in each division of the Oct. 23 tournament will advance to Ontario Federation of School Athletic Association (OFSAA) Finals to be held in Vaughan in May.
The BA students demonstrated good team spirit, sportsmanship, and a positive attitude at the meet despite the rain and hail. The coaches are very proud of how well the whole team performed and wish to congratulate Alessandro, Alexandra, Annika, Anze, Ashley, Ben, Hanyu, Kaelyn, Melissa, Michael, Tara, Victor, Victoria, and Xi.
